Packet Pickup will be Saturday, September 12th, 2009 from 12 PM until 6 PM in Sand Key Park. The event will begin and end in
Sand Key Park.
The ⅓ mile swim will take place parallel to the shoreline in the Gulf of Mexico making for a
safe competitive swim from point to point. Exiting the swim you will run across the sand to the
transition area in the parking lot where you will mount your bicycles and leave the park.
The 11 mile Bike course will be on the open road with vehicular traffic controlled. Clearwater
Police Department will be patrolling and stopping traffic at all intersections. The bike course
will be coned off from vehicular traffic with cones every 25 feet.

- Left on Bayway (dead end)

- Left on 1st (where Hamden dead ends)

- Right through roundabout, stay on Memorial Causeway
- Right on Prospect
- Left on Turner
- Left on Martin Luther King
- Left on Court to Memorial Causeway
- Right on East
- Left on Baymont
- Right onto Gulfview
- Left on 5th St.
- Right on Coronado
- Left on Gulview
- Left on Bayway
- Right on Gulf Blvd
- Right into Park
- Left at first turn in Park, follow around road in park to parking lot
- Left to transition
The 3.1 mile run will start at the south end of the transition area exiting the transition area
veering to the left and running around the small pond on the trail/grass.
Exit this area onto the sand road to the beach and turning to the right and staying on the beach
road to the north end of the beach (This is all hard packed sand). Turn right heading east off
the beach and then turn into the parking lot running down to the roundabout near the transition
area at the SW end of the parking lot, turning back up the parking lot to the sand road near the
jetty turn right on the sand road remaining on the sand road/trail along the jetty/pass. Following
the signs to the end of the trail where the runners will enter onto the main road of the park.
Follow the road to the entrance of the park. At the entrance make a U-turn and follow the signs to
the finish line. The remainder of the run will be on hard surface road.
The run course is completely inside the park. The park will be closed to vehicular traffic during
this event. There will be a water table at every mile.
USAT RULES & REGULATIONS
All participants must be a USAT member or pay a one day membership fee. Do not
include with registration.
